I agree with Evan here, however, I do believe that the northmen should get an option at the end of most invasions similar to the Northumbrian one:Īt the end of the Northumbrian invasion and after the execution of Aelle, the Norse should get an option to install Osberht or Egberht (if they are alive) as tributary kings, taking most of the Northumbrian lands for themselves. What I mean is more important than the events suggestion is to introduce Halfdan Ylfing as a usurper of Jorvik later rather than king in 867 (Ivars grandsons would later claim Jorvik so Ivar is actual a good suggestion for king of Jorvik in 867), Bægsecg as a Invader of Wessex (or Kent) and Guttorm as a usurper of East Anglia (rather than Ubbe). If failed invasion of Wessex then a last invasion on East Anglia led by Guttorm (if successfull settlels it with norsemen ending the events. If Wessex is victorious they gain the kingdom of Mercia if still tribute. Then the Alliance breaks and Halfdan invades Jorvik (if successful settles its land with norsemen)(also this invasion counquerd Jorvik completly from the Northumbrian kings, but i'm not sure if the Northumbrian monarch should have it in 867 untill Halfdans invasion in game), while Guttorm, Arnvid and Åskjetil, supported by Ubbe invades Wessex. Invasion and conquest of Mercia under Halfdan and GuttormĪn invasion on Mercia to replace Bughred with a Saxon noble Ceolwulf as Tributary and conquering the five Boroughs to Halfdan and the following counties Northamton, Hundington, Bedford, Cambrige and Elig to Guttorm. ![]() Invasion of Wessex under Halfdan Ylfing and Bægsecg as Host (there are no Evidence that Bægsecg was king of Jutland, wich probably was ruled still by Horik the Younger wich also was ruler of Slesvig)īoth these kings tried to Invade Wessex 871 taking over Ivars army and is Supported by the great summer army. And in stead of conquest they should have a tributary wars at the beginning. I would like the wars to happen one at the time rather all at once as they did in history. Another thing is it should also be a war to make the Northumbrian king a tributary rather than counqering all of the kingdom (Anglo-Saxson kings in Northren Northumbria still existed under the rule of the vikings as tributaries untill 913). ![]() The invasion of England can be separated in three acts, first under Ivar and Ubbe, then Halfdan "Ylfing" (reason for this is that Hvitserk Ragnarson died east in Prussia or Ruthenia and Halfdan is called "Ylfing" in a saga source) and Bægsecg, and last introduce mainly Guttorm/Æthelstan (aka Guthrum, must not confuse with Harald Fairhairs uncle Hertug Guttorm), Arnvid and Åskjell.Īll sons of Ragnar should be in war with king Ælla wich most sources claim and all armies in England 867. I would therefor suggest that the Heathen Army as mercanary compani so the army could shift hands a bit more frequently if this can work. ![]() I kind of find the event armies of the vikings a bit to overpowered with more than 10 000 men, and easely can overrun Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. Ivar the Boneless is better placed in Jorvik or in a Irish province (Either Vedrafjord or Wexfjord wich also should be included in Ivars kingdom) Kjetil Flatnese (wich is currently king of Laithlinn) was king of Sudereyar (curently Ivar the Boneless kingdom) Gudrød was still king when he died the same year as Ivar the Boneless in 873. Lochlann is identified as the kingdom of Laithlinn. Olafr of Dublin (aka Olafr Hviti) had according Irish Annals a father named Gudrød who were king of Lochlann. The first suggestions are to replace or move characters I mainly hope the suggestions about relocating some of the characters and introduction of Guttorm is considered. ![]() I know the HIP team is busy on exstending the timeline from 1043 futher back and probably other projects, but I will non the less make the suggestion. I have some several suggestions to concerning the viking kingdoms of Britain and Ireland.
